Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying good weather and a happy summer!
I've been meaning to have a go at crochet, something I've always wanted to try but never have got round to it..till today.
I taught myself how to do the sunburst granny square.. you tube is a wonderful teacher
lol
so here is my very first square!
I think I need more practise to get my tension right as it's tight in places and loose in others but with practise I'll look forward to making more and maybe a cushion or throw for my craft room chair.
Happy Stitching
Your square looks lovely. I love the colours. Enjoy your evening!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I hope to do many more.
DeleteCongrats on your first crochet project! Love the colors too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie, I've always loved orange and brown together...don't know why lol must be something hidden from my childhood :)
DeleteThank you very much Sandra, there were many patterns to choose from, some a bit too much for me till I get the hang of it, but I would like to try many different ones :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! It's a very nice design. It doesnt look like a first attempt, lol. You are so creative and patient;) ( I tried it once and never tried again, who knows maybe someday...)
ReplyDeleteThank you :) and LOL and the patients, you didn't hear me in the sewing room lol :) never give up! try, try, and try again :) I love this sunburst design :)
DeleteWow!! It's hard to believe this is your first attempt at crocheting. Your granny square looks great...fab colours!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim, I love that you can be as creative as you feel with the colours :)
DeleteHiya dearest Summer , I hope your still managing to catch a few sun beams between crafting , what a truly glorious day today has been , it makes one so glad to be alive :))))) ..and what shares the lady today , Crochet , ..from the French word "crochet", which means small hook , crocheting working on the principle of taking each stitch to its completion , where knitting has many open stitches at any given time determined by the said pattern ....Yet AGAIN you turn your creative hand to fields anew dear Summer and bring forth a beautiful intricate piece of craft work , I love how you have spanned from the rich warm colours to the cooler , the eye being drawn back and forth across the variant warm to cool cool to warm and in doing so allowing one to absorb the whole piece .. Dear Summer worry not of the tensions within the piece , practice makes perfect as they say , my Grandmother was a fanatical crochet'er in lace , and her opinion was that the piece settled on wash and wear , the stitch tensions balancing throughout as any structure that interlocks :)))) and I for one wasn't gonna argue with her hahahaha ...as ALWAYS dear Summer you stride out and take the proverbial craft by the horns and work with it until one masters the building blocks that lead one to the eventual total mastery of said craft ..I've said it before but will say it again you are truly a beacon to all aspiring crafters who look at a new craft and think ..ooohhhhh I don't know , or it looks complicated , or difficult ..you show the new comer , nothing ventured nothing gained ..GIVE IT A GO , ya never know you may just surprise your self and be a natural ..and hey if not mastery is all apart of crafting yes :)))))) ..a wonderful first piece dearest Summer , look forward to seeing your completed cushion or throw over , which will add to your already bright and beautiful sewing room ..Dearest Summer I am as always your most respectful Ban :))))))) ^~~^
ReplyDeleteThank you Ban, it's lovely to try something new, what will it be next haha :) I love all the colours that can be used, no set colour, just go as you feel :) I will make a throw first as its plenty of practise for me.
DeleteSo pretty! Well done ;o)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much :)
DeleteThe sunburst granny squares look lovely! This is an excellent project to start with. you've done a nice job for a first timer. I'm sure you'll excel in it very soon :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Anitha, I'm a Leftie so am doing everything back to front lol but I'm getting the hang of it and love all the different colours :)
DeleteIt's a beautiful first effort! I don't have any kind of a knack for that, by grandmother tried to teach me to no avail...
