First ever crochet!

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying good weather and a happy summer!
I've been meaning to have a go at crochet, something I've always wanted to try but never have got round to it..till today.
I taught myself how to do the sunburst granny square.. you tube is a wonderful teacher
lol
so here is my very first square!
I think I need more practise to get my tension right as it's tight in places and loose in others but with practise I'll look forward to making more and maybe a cushion or throw for my craft room chair.

Happy Stitching

  2. Summer; if you can knit as beautifully as you do...you will do great at crocheting. I like the pattern you have chosen, the colors, and I think you have done a great job so far. I will always admire how you do so many different types of crafting and you do them all so well.

  6. Hiya dearest Summer , I hope your still managing to catch a few sun beams between crafting , what a truly glorious day today has been , it makes one so glad to be alive :))))) ..and what shares the lady today , Crochet , ..from the French word "crochet", which means small hook , crocheting working on the principle of taking each stitch to its completion , where knitting has many open stitches at any given time determined by the said pattern ....Yet AGAIN you turn your creative hand to fields anew dear Summer and bring forth a beautiful intricate piece of craft work , I love how you have spanned from the rich warm colours to the cooler , the eye being drawn back and forth across the variant warm to cool cool to warm and in doing so allowing one to absorb the whole piece .. Dear Summer worry not of the tensions within the piece , practice makes perfect as they say , my Grandmother was a fanatical crochet'er in lace , and her opinion was that the piece settled on wash and wear , the stitch tensions balancing throughout as any structure that interlocks :)))) and I for one wasn't gonna argue with her hahahaha ...as ALWAYS dear Summer you stride out and take the proverbial craft by the horns and work with it until one masters the building blocks that lead one to the eventual total mastery of said craft ..I've said it before but will say it again you are truly a beacon to all aspiring crafters who look at a new craft and think ..ooohhhhh I don't know , or it looks complicated , or difficult ..you show the new comer , nothing ventured nothing gained ..GIVE IT A GO , ya never know you may just surprise your self and be a natural ..and hey if not mastery is all apart of crafting yes :)))))) ..a wonderful first piece dearest Summer , look forward to seeing your completed cushion or throw over , which will add to your already bright and beautiful sewing room ..Dearest Summer I am as always your most respectful Ban :))))))) ^~~^
