Hi All, hope everyone has had a lovely summer, can you believe how fast this year has gone? it's nearly September already!
well, after my year of decorating ( and it feels like a year lol ) I have managed to fit in some time for my Afghan project and finished the tree that is the centre of the blanket, so I'm halfway there,
I finished this on wed 13th August and have already started the next block :)
I hope to spend more time on my Afghan now with the Autumn months ahead and those cosy winter days :) Happy stitching!

Happy Stitching :)
Hi dear Summer , I hope I find you well :))))) , and am so pleased to hear you have completed your decorating , tell me true is there anything more boring than watching paint dry , except applying it hahahahaha...I LOVE this little tree with its heart so bold shouldered by sunflowers tall and true . Its central position to the blanket reminds me of the Green man , the symbol of life and nature , wood and stone , the pagan God now carved within wood and stone within churches chapels etc but once of the woods .the Green Man represents a male counterpart - or son or lover or guardian - to Gaia (or the Earth Mother, or Great Goddess) there is some argument ..and yet in the 16th Century Cathedral at St-Bertrand de Comminges in southern France, there is an example of a representation of a winged Earth Mother apparently giving birth to a smiling Green Man.The Green Man is that of a pagan nature spirit, a symbol of man’s reliance on and union with nature, a symbol of the underlying life-force, and of the renewed cycle of growth each spring. In this respect, it seems likely that he has evolved from older nature deities such as the Celtic Cernunnos and the Greek Pan and Dionysus. In either case he is symbolises the importance of our continued interaction and respect of all things living , one is reminded of his being by the heart carved within the tree , an act once symbolic of his being within the wood or forest , a special place , an alter one might say ..and here we see said encapsulated within the central piece of your exquisite blanket , surrounded by creatures all..enchanting just absolutely enchanting and so lovingly and patiently created of ones own heart ..love it , just SO love it dear lady . Someones going to be a very lucky he or she in there receipt of this beautiful creation ..even if they no not the hours of loving care applied ...as always dear Summer , my respects to you always , yours Ban :))))))
ReplyDeleteIts me again :))) sorry ..love the tone and highlights within the heart , the tree and its leaves which gives unto them dimension and depth of being ...one experiences a three D effect :))))) just so divine ...thank YOU for sharing your gift and your art dear Summer ..:))))))) respects Ban :)
