  3. Hi dearest Summer :)))) , hope I find you well :)))) , and what beautiful creature has your creative hand , heart , and soul given life unto on this occasion . Aughhhhhh the true red fox (Vulpes vulpes ) of the Canidae , they being true clades , that is to say of a singular line on the tree of life , Canini (related to wolves) and Vulpini (related to foxes). The word '' Fox '' comes from the Old English , which derived from Proto -Germanic word fuhsaz. This in turn derives from Proto - Indo- European word puḱ meaning ‘thick-haired; tail’. Male foxes are referred to as ''dogs '','' tods '' or ,''' reynards ''' ( from the old Germanic '' Regin '', meaning ,made '' hard '' by the Gods , but as time passed so religious beliefs with it ,the word '' Rain-hard '' became interpreted , meaning "staying steady under a rain of blows from weapons in battle" eventually transcribing to Reinhard , which comes from 'regin' which means "counsel" and 'harti' as in "strong", denoting someone who is wise, clever, or resourceful , and of this the Fox has well earned his/her badge of honour , call me romantic , but me thinks the '' staying steady under a rain of blows from weapons in battle '' so transpires unto the creature known unto us today as the '' Fox '' for if any a creature has been laid siege upon over the centuries it has been Reynard , and old Brock the Badger :(((((( .The female Fox is known as a vixen , the word having a complex birth in English dialect ..( : Why does the word fox begin with f but its female counterpart, vixen, begin with v? The answer lies in English dialects. In the speech of Devon, Somerset, and Cornwall, counties of southern England, words that begin with the voiceless fricative sounds(f) and (s) are pronounced instead with voicing, as (v) and (z). (The local rendering of the county name Somerset, in fact, is"Zomerzet.") The voicing is due to a Middle English sound change and may have roots even earlier. At least three examples of this dialectal pronunciation have entered standard English: vat, vane, and vixen. The first of these is a variant of an earlier word fat; the pronunciation with (f) was still used in the 19th century before being displaced by the southern pronunciation (vt). Vane, which used to mean "flag," has a cognate in the German word for "flag," Fahne, showing the original f. Vixen, finally, represents the southern pronunciation of a word that goes back to Old English fyxe, the feminine of fox. It was formed by a change in the root vowel of fox and the addition of a suffix -e or -en.

  4. Besides being one of the rare southern English dialect forms to have come into standard English, vixen is also the only survival of this type of feminine noun in the modern language.).... and the young foxes are known as cubs, pups, or kits. A group of foxes is referred to as a skulk ( from the Scandinavian word meaning to move stealthily to avoid notice ) , leash or earth ..the Fox like the cat has whiskers to face and legs that allow it to feel the variables in air stream ,( eddy's and troughs ) , so they can find their way in the dark , they also as the cat , have behind the light sensitive cells another layer called tapetum lucidum which reflects light back through the eye , this doubles the intensity of images received by the fox causing their eyes to glow green in the dark , they even climbing trees and laying up on lower branches , truly a remarkable and resilient creature ..As we look at your wonderfully created pup dear Summer one is so reminded of the ferret and polecat in its distribution of colouring ,the dark toning to feet ( '' wellingtons '' who's fur thickens by winter lessens by summer ) tail , ears , and masking to face all add to that need for stealth , in the stalking ..I'm so taken aback , by the quality of work'woman'ship , laid down here dear Summer , , the subtle changes in tone, in some places just one or two stitches inducing variables in depth to feet, elbow , heel , and tail that vain through the stitches carrying with them dimension , depth and form , all lifting this beautiful creature from the mono to the three dimensional ,even to those microscopic changes in ear , eye ( white and pupil ) and muzzle , and unless my eyes deceive me without a stitch out of place , one could be forgiven for thinking one looks upon a work in water colours on canvas , beautiful tight totally aligned stitch work dear Summer :))))) , extended within the variables of colour within flowers and butterfly , such love is woven within every laid stitch here dear Summer , there for all to see . Its a truly a beautiful work of creative art you present to us here in all its wondrous dipicturement of new life , in its discovery of the world . What a treasured gift this completed work will be to the lucky recipient .. truly a wonderful share as always dear lady , I thank YOU for not only sharing your gift and art with us dear Summer , but for finding the time to do so at very busy scheduled time for you :)) , dear Summer I remain yours as always and with respect , Ban :))))))))
