Simple but so sweet..

The SO sweet Carnation,
I love this flower and its my birth month flower :)
I made these with white Ribbon and painted them,

No two flowers are the same, the fold of the ribbon making each flower unique in its own right and also painting them makes them different by adding light or dark shades wherever you want making the whole picture unique to the creator.

I love black backgrounds, I think it brings out the colours so much more than white,
I've used black many times in cross stitch and the results were always beautiful.

Stop and smell the Roses

Hi all,
Thank you for all your lovely comments on my previous post :)
happy Tuesday, hope your week has been good so far with lots of stitching or whatever craft you're doing :)

I made this little flower garden, so stop and smell the roses :) lol

I started with white silk ribbon in 4 different sizes to make all the different flowers.

I then "painted" each individual flower and leaf

I hope you all have a happy week crafting
:)

The earth laughs in flowers...

And it SO does...
I really enjoyed making this,
I think there will be many, many more in the future.

Happy Crafting :)

What have I been doing?....

Well, I thought I would take the bull by the horns and Gooooo for it
LOL

I've been itching to have a go at trying my hand at some of the beautiful patterns in my new book

and when they say LITTLE flowers, they REALLY mean LITTLE flowers!!
LOL

This is such tiny and intricate work but SO much fun,

The Whole picture is only 5in by 6in

so it gives you some idea of just how tiny the flowers are!

I've just the Daisy petals to do today and it's finished.

Happy new week :)

Peacock Framed

I Got my peacock back from the framers at the weekend :)
he's done a beautiful job of framing it and I'm so happy I took it straight away rather than leave it sitting in the drawer for a year...like I usually do :)
lol
now...where to hang it..I'm running out of wall space :)

Happy Crafting

Crazy Patchwork block #1

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my lightbox :)
it's interesting to read what you all think about using one,
I haven't got round to using it yet but will :)

This week I've been practising my silk ribbon flowers, I didn't want to go rushing in to make a picture before I know what I'm doing so I thought it best to make some crazy patchwork blocks to practise on, it seemed a shame to do some practise flowers and then throw them away! and silk ribbon is pretty expensive!

So the blocks are ideal, although I've never done this before either
LOL
I'm learning two things here, how to do crazy patchwork and silk ribbon embroidery!

The roses I didn't make but the lavender and daisy are my first practise pieces

and I get to keep them :)

I added lots of bits and pieces, buttons and bows as crazy patchwork is anything goes :)
that suits me
lol

and the finished piece.. a bit wonky but I did it :))
hope you all have a lovely new week
and of course....
Happy Stitching :)

The Lightbox

Sounds like a title for a good book or movie lol but its not
its a box with a light in it :) as if you didn't know
lol

I've just bought this to help with my craft of ribbon embroidery,
the idea being that you trace your picture from a book,
then you put what you traced onto the lightbox and your fabric on top,

the light will show the tracing on the fabric then you can draw your picture with a water soluble pen then you're ready to embroider.

The box has many art and craft uses and is particularly good if you're stitching on a dark fabric, having the lightbox on your lap will show all the holes easier.

the fabric I have on there is 32 count Linen, so you see how  easily it shows up the holes in this fabric.

its going to be a handy addition to my sewing room

Happy Stitching :)
