A New Year and A New Challenge

Well, its nearly 2015 and for this new years new challenge I've chosen to try my hand at silk ribbon embroidery and this is what I have chosen to start with

Oh I love a challenge
LOL
and just to add to the challenge all the instructions are in chinese
:)))
but does that deter me...
NOooo
I  WILL conquer this beautiful picture and craft.

:))

Last years challenge was to learn how to use a sewing machine
and through the year I made my first ever Quilt which you can see Here and two tote bags and gathered lots of fabric to stash for future projects :))

Through the eyes of a child

vintage christmas

Do you remember when YOU were a child, and it was the holidays,
Finally!! it was here!
Cold noses pressed against cold windows,
presents wrapped up in glitter and string,
stockings hung at the end of the bed,
waiting for Santa and what he may bring.

vintage christmas

And there was the magic, oh yes.
and the absolute certainty that anything was possible.
Through the eyes of a child we find the joy of Christmas.
in their hearts we find its meaning.

Merry Christmas

Beautiful books for crafters

Hi all :)
I bought some beautiful craft books from Amazon the other day that I'd like to share with you,
They look really nice and some easy to do projects... just what I like lol :)

The first book is love to sew by Christa Rolf and has some fun and wonderful projects

Like this Love pillow and many more cute things in patchwork

Book two is

Snug as a bug by from melly and me,
and has cute things for babies and toddlers that crafters can make
like

this lovely comfort blanket with a cute bug in the corner :))

Book Three is Half  yard Heaven by Debbie Shore

and is an ideal book for ideas on using up some fabrics to make small projects

The owls and cats look lovely :)
there are lots of projects in these books and I think I'm going to be very busy.
LOL
happy crafting!

My New Sizzix

Hello All :))
I have bought a sizzix, it looks great and will be a real asset when I get back to doing my quilting again, with the sizzix you can cut card shapes as well as felt and fabrics for stuffed toy making.
you have to buy what they call "dies", they are basically templates with sharp blades in, you lay your fabric or card on the die and cover it with a hard piece of plastic and then thread it through the machine, rollers on the machine push up the blades and it cuts your fabric or card to that shape, very ingenious and very handy for cutting exact sizes when quilting :))) cant wait to give it a go.
I've bought 3 dies to start with...has anyone else got a sizzix? and what have you made with yours.

Well, at last I got round to getting my Summer and Winter cats framed...Summer cat has only been waiting a year lol but they're done now and they did a lovely job at the framers. I did my best at taking photos of them but is impossible to get a clear photo of them without the glass glare and reflections, sorry about that, hope you like them :))

Tree of Love Block #7

Hi All, hope everyone has had a lovely summer, can you believe how fast this year has gone? it's nearly September already!
well, after my year of decorating ( and it feels like a year lol ) I have managed to fit in some time for my Afghan project and finished the tree that is the centre of the blanket, so I'm halfway there,
I finished this on wed 13th August and have already started the next block :)
I hope to spend more time on my Afghan now with the Autumn months ahead and those cosy winter days :) Happy stitching!
